      Foundation's Mission Statement

Citizens for Kids was established in July 2003 to raise funds for programs and services that exclusively benefit the students of the Chino Valley Unified School District. The foundation's mission statement is intentionally simple: Uniting community resources for excellence in public education.

Foundation's Strengths

Citizens for Kids is a recognized means for providing additional revenue to classrooms and provides a professional mechanism for collecting and distributing funds. It represents a legitimate avenue for monetary expressions of gratitude and support. Providing additional funding to schools for projects and materials that could not otherwise be purchased increases staff morale and, of course, student performance.

At the same time, it helps increase awareness of teacher and student needs and draws the community in and draws it together in a worthy and focused effort. An affiliation with the foundation improves and broadens the District’s grant prospects. As a separate entity, Citizens for Kids avoids the legislated limitations attached to other district funds and is able to distance itself from potential politically charged issues. Citizens for Kids is a direct channel for investment in the future of the community through investment in its youth.

Foundation's Marketing Plan

The Foundation receives tremendous support from the District and the Board of Education. Its activities are followed in the local media and promoted on TV Channel 17. All school sites promote it and The Directors make presentations at service clubs and appear at community and school events alike. In addition, the Foundation has developed printed promotional materials that are circulated and distributed. Donors who make a significant financial commitment are acknowledged at Board of Education meetings and on Channel 17, and will be acknowledged on the Foundation website.

Foundation's Payouts and Budget Goals

To date, we have been able to provide funding for most of the applications we have received, typically up to $7,000. With its district perspective, the Executive Committee is able to analyze requests and determine if they meet foundation funding standards, follow predetermined processes and/or match our funding priorities.

Clearly, as support grows and funds increase, the foundation expects to offer even greater support to the District and our goal is to raise funds in excess of $1 million in the coming years.

Foundation's Impact

Citizens for Kids expects to have an impact on every one of the students enrolled in the District. Over time, that means thousands of lives will be touched. The impact on the community will be enormous.

Naturally, the Board of Directors feels passionately that making a difference to a single child is worth the effort and by supporting local schools, the community is well served, in the present and for the future.
